The Long Harbour Development Corporation (LHDC) is a not-for-profit corporation dedicated to the task of maximizing the business development and employment opportunities associated with the construction and ongoing operations of the multi-billion dollar Vale nickel processing plant at Long Harbour Newfoundland and the regions industrial complex.

LHDC’s aim is to create an “open for business” environment that encourages the recruitment, retention and growth of commercial enterprises to broaden the economic base of the community of Long Harbour — Mount Arlington Heights (LH-MAH) for the benefit of all of our residents. The Corporation provides advice, information and support to businesses wishing to develop, grow, expand or set-up shop in Long Harbour.

LHDC serves as a first point of contact for firms seeking to invest in Long Harbour. The Corporation is available to assist businesses wishing to service Vale’s nickel processing plant, or form joint ventures with local companies. The LHDC is designed to inform and encourage prospective businesses to consider Long Harbour as a viable location for economic growth.

LHDC has undertaken a number of initiatives to advance both the residential and commercial capacity of the community. Middle Pond sub-division is ideally located along the shores of beautiful Middle Pond. This 25 lot sub-division is available to accommodate those seeking to establish roots or build that dream cottage in an idyllic surrounding with all of the benefits of a growing rural community.

Our Industrial Supply Park (ISP) was created to meet the needs of the business community wishing to establish operations in close proximity to the regions industrial complex.  Too many, Placentia Bay and the Isthmus of Avalon region is recognized as the industrial heartland of our province. In addition to the multi billion dollar Vale nickel processing plant located in our town the ISP is in proximity to the Bull Arm fabrication site, the West White Rose Project re-start in Argentia, Braya Renewable Fuels re-development at Come-By Chance, Grieg Aquaculture Developments and much more. Whatever the development in the region, LHDC is centered on your success.

A volunteer Board of Directors oversees the strategic direction of LHDC. The Board is comprised of representatives from the town as well as non-elected residents of the community.
