The Town of LH-MAH (aka – Long Harbour) is located on the Western Avalon Peninsula. We are the home of Vale’s new nickel processing plant — the largest and most technologically advanced Hydromet Nickel Processing Plant in the world.

The community is conveniently located just 11 kilometers from the Trans Canada Highway on newly upgraded route 202 access road. We are just over an hours drive from the capital city of St. John’s. The town is in close proximity to other major industrial projects in the region such as, the Hebron project at Bull Arm, the proposed Husky Energy project at Argentia and the North Atlantic Oil refinery at Come-By-Chance.

One only needs to take a drive through the community to be awed by its magnificent harbour and scenery. Schools, medical and dental services, government offices, banking services and a supermarket are readily available within 20 minutes of the community. The town boasts a new fire hall, playgrounds, walking trails, and a new outdoor recreation complex. Nature enthusiasts will enjoy plenty of fresh air, hiking trails, and exceptional hunting and fishing. The area is home to an abundance of wildlife. This is a place where many enjoy outdoor activities such as boating, snowmobiling and ice fishing. Most importantly, we are a welcoming community where residents enjoy a clean, safe, and relaxed way of life close to the amenities of larger centers and blessed with the tranquility of a rural lifestyle.
